Chiropractic Adjustments
Diversified Technique
This style of adjustment utilizes gentle hands-on techniques to treat patients. If you've ever been to a chiropractor or witnessed an adjustment, it's likely that you've seen and experienced this type of treatment.
Thompson Drop Technique
This approach involves using a specialized table known as a drop table. The drop table is distinctive because it enables me to treat patients who are difficult to adjust, those who prefer not to undergo typical manipulation, or patients with degenerative joint and disc issues.
Activator Method
The activator is a helpful tool for making adjustments in cases where pushing on your back or adjusting your neck could be harmful. Such cases could include severely deteriorated discs, spinal canal stenosis, osteoporosis, etc.
Webster Technique
This is a helpful technique to assist pregnant patients with round ligament pains and to prevent or reverse a breech baby position naturally.
Other Techniques
Flexion & Distraction (F & D)
"F&D" is a technique used with a table that allows the lower half to flex downward and/or move from side to side. Why is this useful? It's a great way to help relieve pain and discomfort from vertebral disc issues. The technique works by creating a negative suction force inside the disc space to help "pull" it back into place. It feels like a really nice stretch that alleviates the stiffness in your lower back.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)
This form of therapy is very useful as it uses electrical impulses to activate muscle groups, promoting healing and pain relief. If you've ever experienced a constant pinched feeling between your neck and shoulder, this therapy can help alleviate that discomfort.
Lower Back Rehabilitation
This therapy is an effective way to regain core strength. I usually don't perform this therapy in the office because not everyone is comfortable with it, but I'll show you how to do it and provide you with a take-home sheet to follow along with. The reason behind this is that lacking core strength can cause lower cross syndrome, where our abdominal muscles, lower back muscles, and leg muscles don't work well together. This often leads to lower back pain and stiffness. To address this issue, we use lower back exercises and stretches to help restore the balance.
Intersegmental Traction Table (Roller Table/IST)
This therapy is used occasionally when patients experience soreness after an adjustment. It helps stimulate movement in the joints and muscles that were worked on, bringing blood flow to the muscles to speed up the healing process. It also provides a "mini massage" for those muscle groups, offering a comforting sensation.
